Dan (Falk) -
This is exactly the kind of feedback I hoped for. The Rong Fu machine you
mention is very nice, and would make a sweet CNC conversion. I think I ran
across it a few months ago, but the price tag scared me off. I saw it
listed for around $3300 (Salesco, I think,
http://www.salesco.com/TOOLS/metal/drill/geared_head_series_a.htm as
mentioned by Peter). I tried finding more info on the one Steve Carlisle
mentioned from Pyramid Machine Tools, Alberta, Canada, that was priced at
$3389, but no luck. Can that really be $3389 CANADIAN? That's a big
difference from what Salesco has listed.
I learned about EMC for the first time right here in this mailing list, and
I'm definitely looking into it. I have no experience with Linux, but it
seems everybody here is really helping each other figure out how to get the
systems working. I hope there are plans for more than 5000 steps/sec.
Last time I looked at Dan Mauch's site, I don't remember seeing the 5A
drivers. Are those 5A per phase, or per motor? And, what voltage can they
handle?
Thanks,
Carlos
