15-pin DB15 D-shell connector:
PIN SIGNAL PIN SIGNAL
--- ------ --- ------
1 +5V 8 +5V
2 button 1 9 +5V
3 pot 1 'X1' 10 button 3
4 GND 11 pot 3 'X2'
5 GND 12 midi
6 pot 2 'Y1' 13 pot 4 'Y2'
7 button 2 14 button 4
15 midi

These are the pinouts I have been using. Don't use 12 or 15,
they are for midi. I've looked at a bunch, and any (PC compatable)
computer made since about 1994 (that I've seen) have the above wiring.

True. Also some early joysticks. Easy to replace.

That is the standard.

Alan: I'll email you the programming data that I have on the
joystick. Also to anyone else who wants it - email me offline.
