Your method makes more sense, I'll work on that. As a matter if interest,
apart from the cheapest watch cases, the holes in the strap lugs are usually
drilled after the case is made - and only part way through from the inside.
How do they do that as you can't get a drill aimed straight because the
opposite one is in the way? Well, one way I've seen and used successfully is
to use a thin twist drill in a bent tube. Find a hypodermic needle or
something similar and the longest twist drill you can find of the size that
just fits the needle, bend the needle so it clears the other strap lug and
hold the needle firm while the drill does its work. Clever 'eh?
