CNC on home built phase converter

I am running a manual mill on a homebuilt phase converter using an
idler motor. My question is; Can I run a full blown CNC lathe (10 hp
spindle motor)on the same type of phase converter? Do I need
anything like a voltage regulator, ect... to go with it?
