IntelliCAD 2000 - free CAD

Hello to all,

I just wnnted to post an opinion of something I've been trying out.

I went through the process of downloading the free IntelliCAD 2000
program a few weeks back but have just started trying it out the past
few days.

I have used various versions of AutoCAD in the past so I had
something to compare to.

I took the time to download both the program and the manual.
I haven't looked at the manual as of yet.

I find Intellacad 2000 very simular to AutoCAD 14. You can arrange
the screen to put the icons just about anywhere you want just like
AutoCAD. If I had to be fussy about anything it would be the "feel"
of the program being different in that popup menues show up when
using commands. But for a free program I can't complain. I also found
some of the command line commands to be exactly the same. Any one who
has used AutoCAD would not have any problem finding their way around
in this program even though some commands work a slight bit different.

I would recommend it to any one that needed to draw up a few parts or
view drawings done by others in .dwg or .dxf formart. I have taken
drawings done in our shop on AutoCAD 14 and had them load right up in
IntelliCAD 2000 just fine. Printing drawings to my printer has also
been very simular to AutoCAD.

For any one who is on a tight budget I would recommend it.

I don't have the link to post at this minute but one of our list
members has it on his site. I'm sure he would be glad to post it if
requested.

Now if I could find a free program to convert dxf files to g-code
that works as well as this one handles dwg and dxf files I would be
very happy.

Just wanted to share an opinion.
