I posted the pictures that I said I would provide for the Sherline
Servo Milling machine. I changed motors from the last post back in
December. The new motors are quite as fast but then a much easier to
install. The new motors were running the Sherline at 60 IPM without
me tuning the software (desknc for Dos) for optimum performace. But
considering that it is a Sherline with 20 TPI leadscrews, I think
that is pretty good.
The Z axis works very well and eaisly raises and lowers the power
head with no signs of stalling.
But with only 3.5" of travel on the Y axis one must be careful. The
motors are powerful enough to run the system direct drive but not so
much that one would destroy the stock thrust collar on the machine.
