Elliot,
I've heard that EMC won't drive the 4-phase stepper drivers, but it's a
simple circuit to go from step/dir to 4-phase. Mike G. brought Jon
Elson's 4-phase circuit to my attention:

Best of both worlds! I'm also anxious to get a 400 Mhz AMD machine
together, and try out BDI. Hopefully the CD's will hit the west coast
soon!
