In that case I would say that 80 + IPM range is realistic with Gecko G210's
on 1/2 coil. This is sounding better all the time.

Mariss says that the drives monitor the motors to provide the midband
stabilization. On a NEMA 42 the signal they are watching is so much greater
than on a smaller motor that it is over compensation. If you specify the
drive is for a NEMA 42 he will add a single resistor chip that adjusts the
gain to a more appropriate value. The downside of the change is that the
motor will not drive a NEMA 23 or smaller properly.

I would actually go with 72 volts to give a little leeway even though the
drives are rated to 80 V. I am planning to use some 48 V 10 amp transformers
that I picked up surplus with a rectifier and a cap. Don't know of any 48 V
units on the market cheaply at the moment, but a pair of 24 V units in
series would work just as well and are easier to find.

I Don't remember the exact value, but Lee (fellow series II owner) mentioned
to me that if you apply 110 V single phase to the big 3 phase transformer in
it outs out something that sounded close enough to be a very usable power
supply.
