Gary, you can still use the speed control, it is manual. The original control did not control spindle speed.
I have mine hooked up real easy. with a separate 24V supply.
But if you are going to put on a VFD and have spindle speed output (0-10V) from the control then it does make sense to just set the
manual control and leave it. You still have the back gear for really high torque needs.
