Hugh and Mariss,

Thanks for the numbers. Looking at these, it's fairly clear that I
probably don't need to design for absolute worst case loads.
I can't imagine a Max achieving these kinds of loads. I've crashed mine
more than once, and half a ton of force would have moved a lot of
things. Sherline's kit is using a smaller flanged bearing than I'm
looking at, which has lower load ratings.

Hugh, I am going to test because I'm looking at a Chinese bearing. I
would think the Japanese bearings will do fine, but with the former
costing about 1/3 the latter, I want to make sure it's up to the task.
Just trying to keep the cost of the end product down without sacrificing
reasonable quality. I'm looking at using flanged bearings to simplify
machining on the mount. If they don't hold up I'll have to go back to a
regular radial bearing and machine stepped bores for the bearings, again
raising the cost.
