Ed,
The minirobo is a planset offered by super tech so you can build your
own. I think I remember seeing a price mentioned awhile back around
$1495 for a "built" version. This was before the plaset was placed
online. A phone call to Dennis should clear this up.
As to the Sherline, Dan M had his up to about 75 IPM! I'd think it
wouldn't last long at that sped without some ACTIVE lubrication.
There are quite a few in the 40IPM range which have run for some
time. Again, you will need to try to keep the heat down if you want
to push this design. I've heard more about failures of the axis NUTS
than the ways, but the anodising DOES wear off with use, and once it
does, you really need to replace the machine, IMO.
