The circuits are everywhere. Exactly this project was done in one
of the village press publications a few years back. They used an
existing stepper motor learning board from one of the surplus
houses. Mendleson sells one I think. Ramsey Electronics sells
one. Look in Nuts and Volts magazine for articles.
All you have to do is steal one axies from one of the many drivers
that are available on the webb and add a pulse generator in front of
it..
The driver you need isn't any different than a cnc driver except you
feed a pulse generator on instead of the step input from the
computer. And use a switch to switch the direction.
