US digital sells an encoder amplifier for line lengths up to 1000
feet for $13.00 each, or you can build them out of a 7404 ( Mariss
showed me how ). My encoder lines are 12' long and were giving me
nightmares until I added an amp.

that may be picked up by encoder signal wires. Some sort of
differential amplifier. Could you refresh my memory with the part
number of the transmitter/receiver IC or series?
