BDI - Emc >.ini files

I am trying to get BDI EMC working on a new stepper system. I can get the
motors working well in DOS programs, so I know that is not the problem. I
have the system working on a 733 MHz CPU so I know its fast enough. What I
need to know is what settings in the .ini files are for what. I would like
to get it to run in the stepper mode. Where can I find the info these
settings. Am I wrong in believing that the system would never be linear in
the frequency mode. Are there any other files that need to be modified to
get it up and running? I haven't found any information explaining how to set
these files up.
