yep ,somthing like that
but with the long side of the 'J' shape running down the cylinders axis
almost like a sliding bolt door latch with the curve of the 'J' wraping
most of the way around the OD (actualy more complex but the same moves)
we wanted to cut a 10mm cam slot using a 5/16" tool but wound up
using a 10mm end mill instead

was the part programed with Vector?
if so ,how well did it handle the ends of the grove ?
any unwanted 'flat' spots etc..?
