At the risk of having to compete with others for next $1 stepper,
I'll mention for anyone within driving distance of Cambridge, MA
that the next MIT swapfest/fleamarket/hamfest is this sunday.
For those who haven't attended before, this is a great place to pick
up an older pentium to run your favorite CNC program, some of the
various interconnect stuff you'll need it to make it work, and if you
are lucky perhaps a stepper or servo motor, high current power supply,
random bit of metalworking stuff, etc. It's split between a parking
garage and open lot, so expert crufters bring sun protection and
sometimes a small flashlight for reading part number in the dim light
of the garage. Anyone interested in trying to meet there? Either
before it opens, or perhaps later in the morning after we've all had a
chance to make independent sweeps for the really good stuff?
As a further note, Mass ave is under heavy construction from the river
past Vassar street to Albany street and is worth avoiding... best to
approach from the Kendall square side of things. There is usually
someplace to park within a 5 minute walk.
If you plan on attending, print out the following 'ad' and bring it
for a dollar off admission...
