I have done quite a bit of wax cutting. Are you sure it's the X axis that's
changing? Maybe the wax is moving due to excess loading.

Another problem that could occur is to high a spindle speed. This could
cause wax to melt and stick to the cutter. After that happens, either the
wax will move or the cutter will bend/break (if very small) or the cutting
forces being increased due to large diameter caused by wax build up might
cause the machine to shift. If the X axis itself shifts, that's indicative
of much larger problems.
