Chris:
I can't say anything about the "mark all as read," but you should be able to
send a message back to the group. You might want to check your mailer
settings. What mail program are you using?

Well, I have been trying the group by having sent to my Email. I
have set up a filter as well. I guess I am better off negotiating
the group via html. First off my mail program does not have a Mark
all Read button once messages are inside a different folder, and,
then, best I can tell, I can't reply to the Group from any message
only the sender. Seems like more work this way as I still need to
visit the website.
Hope someday the group goes legit NG
Thanks for the suggestions
