Very, very strange. This is something I've never had a problem with!
I've done this MANY times, running programs over and over with just
the "R" key. Are you sure you stay in AUTO mode while the program
is running?

You might hit F3 to go to manual, and then F4 to go back to AUTO before
hitting the R key. Is there any possibility you left it in MDI, or hit the
"P" key (for pause)?

And, of course, Xwindows focus needs to be on the EMC window for EMC's
GUI to even receive the keystrokes.
