Because I can? ;-) I said that I specified a .2 mm overlap. That is
1/2 of it. It traces back to the geometry in my Vector drawing.

I would seriously hope so. However that is not the question that I
was answering. The question was how to make EMC behave properly with
cutter comp. I answered it to the satisfaction of the questioner.

Since I know that he is also working with a DOS compiled EMC version,
I explained to him what I think he should improve to make it better.
(make D offset callouts modal!)

My answer is the way that cutter comp should be done for best
results. You can't always use teardrop shaped lead in and lead out,
as sometimes you are cutting at the bottom of a tight pocket or
circle. I still personally avoid any Z movement within Cuttercomp.

The approach/depart geometry to create this tool path can be drawn
with one click in VectorCad. There is no reason that even those
using ACE converter can't have access to this kind of finesse. They
will have to edit the G-code file a little, but the g-code geometry
will be perfect.

Now if the part is slightly oversize, change the D value just slightly
(smaller), recut and the part is right on.

Hope that makes it a little clearer.
