Like Microsoft products, EMC still has a few glitches lurking in the
background. Unlike M$, we all have access to the EMC source code, and can help
in tracking down and eliminating any residual bugs.

The Brain Dead Install for Linux and EMC - A phrase that was coined on this
list during a thread on this list back in February 2000. The original brief was
to produce a CD that would enable even the newest of newbies to install and run
EMC with the minimum of headaches.

Announced to the world on April 1st of this year, it has enabled a large number
of people to get EMC running without the pains of compiling the sources from
scratch.

A number of ways can be used :

a) Plug the hard drive into a desktop computer to do the install.

b) Use a serial cable and a couple of boot floppies.

c) Fit a PCMCIA network card to the laptop and again boot from floppies.

Be warned though - Laptops can be problematic getting any linux installed,
mainly due to the nonstandard nature of the LCD graphics.
