Hi Weyland,
The RF mills (I have an RF-31) are gonna take bigger motors! About 450
oz/in, from what I remember people saying. Others can probably advise
on the motors for the plasma cutter. How big is it?
Rigotti's driver board has UCN5804B's (UNIPOLAR), and is suitable for
the 60 oz/in motors. So I'm not sure where you were going to use it.
Your two applications call for some bigger motors! An you really them
to be BIPOLAR, with chopper drivers. Otherwise You'd need terrible big
L/R resistors, and you'd have a LOT of heat to get rid of!
8 wire, and with these, you just use 1/2 of each winding phase. You DO
NOT want anything "common" between the two windings. It will let the
magic smoke out of the drivers!
Good luck man!
