Thanks Ray!
Though I have done a smidgen of C programming, I chose the hardware
solution because it was the quickest.
I purchased a small "RS-232 Jumper Box" from Radio Shack. Although
it claims to be for serial communications it is just a 25 pin jumper
box about the size of a gender changer. Can be used for parallel
ports just as well.
I soldered all the jumper connections together for a straight pass-
thru, with the exception of the 3 lines that the SP-3 needs to have
LO for motor enable. Those three I connected with jumper wire to
ground pins on the parallel port side rather than the normal
connections.
Works great. Didn't have to modify the SP-3 board itself. Just
plugs in -- can remove it easily if I ever need to do so.
Problem solved for less than $10.00.
THANKS!
Carl Lance
PS. If anyone else needs to make parallel port pin conversions of
any kind, this little box is perfect. RatShack Cat.#: 276-1403. As
with most of their stuff a little overpriced, but handy to purchase.
