XFree86

Hi,

I would like to upgrade to the latest version of XFree86 ( I am currently
using the one which ships with RedHat 5.2) but I seem to be heading for the
swamp when I try. I have the RedHat 6.0 CDs which contain the XFree86 3.3.*
rpms and I tried using the KDE package manager to install a couple of
these - each time I got a failure message telling me that it could not
install the packages due to dependency problems - i.e. it needed other
packages installing first. The difficulty seemed to be that the dependencies
were heading for a circular tour! Has anyone upgraded XFree using the rpms
and, if so, is there a set path you have to follow in the order in which
they should be processed. As an alternative, what would be involved in
installing the whole of this 6.0 release and then doing a retro to the
2.0.35 kernel. Would it cause problems in reinstalling the RT patch?
