Since you have access to linux already you probably know this. You will
also need to install or compile a NMT or RTAI real-time linux kernel rather
than using a standard Linux kernel.
There are places around the net where binary sources of the EMC are
available but you MUST have exactly the same version of linux and rtlinux
that the EMC source code was compiled for. (or a modest understand of
links, failures, and fixes)
An experimental set of source files exist as emc??? on
www.linuxcnc.org/dropbox. They are setup for sneakernet with *.aaa and
*.aab. Or you can get the last real release from sourceforge. If
everything else is in place, they should compile and you will be able to
run them. Some have found that when downloading these using a MS OS box
that strange permutations happen. You might want to download directly to a
clean floppy.
If you choose this compile path, would you be willing to keep a diary of
your experience and add it to the handbook? Keith Rumley
