I use deskncrt, but not very much. I use its step/dir output to drive
servos. I like that it has nearly the same functionality as emc(if your
using the step/dir output at least), and I like its speed. I dont use it for
three main reasons.
First you cant run a program without typing "run prog.nc", unlike emc which
requires you to load a file once, and each run needs the operator to hit the
"r" key.
Second is the inability to change a work coorordinate position without
killing the program and editing a file. I need to change g54-g59 without
killing my machine control. If somone knows how to do this let me know.
Third is the inability to change a tool length without killing the machine
control program.
The second and third reasons on my list are the most troublesome for me. I
could ignore many other things, but those two are important.
I think the writer of this software has done a good work with this
program, but with so many other choices, EMC being my choice, I have not
decided to use it. I would use it more often if somone could point me to a
simple method around the problems I have had.
