Another weird encoder

A client of mine has several machines that use reed switch encoders. The stator is a ring of magnetic reed switches - 360 of them around a 6 inch frame. The rotor is simply a small magnet.
You probably figured out by now there are 361 wires coming out of this monster. They are reliable and easy to fix but I would not want to be the poor soul to replace one (361 soldered connections).
