The fellow that wrote up the EDM machine for HSM has built a wire EDM
machine. I got to see a demo of it at NAMES this year; very
impressive. He used the same power supply as his other EDM machine.
He's going to eventually publish it in HSM, but I don't know what the
date will be.

Conceptually though, they're pretty simple. The devil is in the
details though and, of course, adding CNC controls is an additional
challenge.

Still, anyone with sufficient time and energy could use that as
a starting point.
