The Geckos will drive the motors and you will likely see very little
difference in performance compared to what you would get with an 8 amp
drive. The Geckos are current limited so they will not exceed the 7 amp
maximum as that is the value you get with no current setting resistor
connected and it gets lower when you add a resistor.
You also need to examine the specs closely to verify the amp setting and
consider how you are going to wire the motor (full coil, 1/2 coil,
parallel). In my limited experience I have been told and found it to
emperically be true that driving the motor at about 60% of the rated
current will give you most of the power of full current with a lot less
heating.
