Gecko Drives with 8A motors

Hi,
I have two Superior Electris steppers, Type KML093F-109. These are
2.06 Volt, 8.2 Amp, 200 Steps/Rev motors. Is it possible to use
Geckos to drive these even though the Geckos are 7 amp max? Will this
destroy the drives, or will I just get lower performance from the
motors than I would with a drive that is rated for the full amp
rating of the motors? If Geckos will not work, can anyone suggest
other options than Microkinetics 10A drivers?
Thanks,
Bill Hubbard
