Help with French Software.

To those interested...

I've been testing with this software using my own driver boards, timers,
etc. for about a year now. I haven't made much progress due to a move
during the process. It is a slick software with the heat
control/compensation.

I have used other cnc wing cutting software without heat
control/compensation and that is the reason I switched (plus it is more
user friendly).

As to the timer issue... It does not need calibrating IF you are using the
quartz timer version. The quartz crystal calibrates (stablizes) the timer
signal. So.... the pc is not "seeing" the timer signal.. That's the good
news.

Now for the somewhat bad news... I had to actually change motherboards to
finally get mine to work. According to Gilles, that sometimes is an issue.

Try the following test procedure to locate the problem.
First, make sure the timer circuit is working. You can use a small speaker
like an old transistor radio earphone (be careful!) or an oscilloscope of
course. Basically the timer circuit only has four external connections
(+5vdc, power gnd, signal gnd, and signal). Check at the circuit board,
then connector, then parallel cable (pc end). If all goes well then
problem is in PC, somewhere?

Next, download any of the "port monitor" programs. I used
http://www2.burg-halle.de/~schwenke/parport.html. This software runs in a
DOS window or standalone to watch the port signals. This was how I found
out that my PC was not "seeing" the timer signal. If this is the problem
this start easy like switching parallel port modes, and working up to the
replace part mode.

Good luck, tell us what you find!
