Another way to go with the mill considering it has servo motors and
encoders already is to use Gecko G320/340 drivers and the stepper
version of EMC. I have a Bridgeport Series II running that way and the
performance is far better than when I tried it using the stock steppers
motors. While this solution may not be quite as nice as "true" servos
that Jon is suggesting, it is VERY cost effective and much easier to
setup with almost all the virtues of a traditional servo.
