Hello friends,
I had my fun today with the monster lathe.
The job is easy, but parts are HEAVY!
Well, actually it is not that big. The tail stock might weight only
800 kg and is moved by a big 1 HP motor
and the carriage by a 5 hp motor.
The chuck is perhaps some 2 something meter in diameter.
But anyway it is huge and I felt like an ant.
The operator said that he would jump like a monkey from
one side to the other. Exactly how John Heritage imagined
himself a week ago.
But here a small tool holder wouldn't even fit as
work part in my lathe. I had trouble to put it on
the side (min. 30 kg).
The life center is MK7!

Monday will be again a science fiction day.
Regards from Mister X

Hello friends,
I hope you will enjoy your weekend.
The local electricity company INVITED me for
an emergency repair of a monster lathe!
The apron's clutch is gone and it must be taken of
in order to repair it. There is no change to open it otherwise.
(Chinese construct very handy ==>" The cheap stuff becomes expensive!"
)
Imagine: only the tail stock weights about 1200 KG and is moved by a
5 or 7 HP motor.

You remember the saying: "Make yourself a name and start to sleep!" ?
Well, they do not want any other local engineer for to have a look
at this... B A B Y!

Have Fun!
