I started the group to be a free exchange of information in the list title.
I feel that it has become that. Yes, there is a lot about LINUX, and I am
having my share of problems with it also. But the advantage to the non
professional seems to be a low cost route to get CAM.
There are no restrictions on introducing other systems, how they work, etc.,
feel free to ask any question, or introduce any subject within the list
objectives.
Since we have been running there have been discussions on DRO, CAD, EDM, with
various solutions offered, or questions posted and most times answered,
however not being a list for the professional there are times that specific
equipment questions will not be answered, because probably no one on the list
is using that equipment.
For specific professional piece of equipment. There are also other lists you
might try.
Many of us on the list were bemoaning the simple fact that very little was
being published for the "Home Shop Machinist." At least here we have a
chance as shown by the individuals that are up and running, some on LINUX/EMC
others on other systems.
The one thing I have noticed is the amount of help that is available and
freely given no matter what the subject.
As I said I am having my own problems with LINUX, but when the shop cools
down, hope to get back on it. Also I hope it is easier to do by then.
For everyone's information we have 279 members shown today.
