Hi Henrik,
It sounds as though you have some incompatibility between the video card and
the monitor or, hopefully, it just hasn't set itself up properly. You can
try using XF86Setup which is on the CD if it hasn't installed already
(first, open the terminal window and type XF86Setup. If it's installed, you
should get a window up which will allow you to try various combinations of
display card, display memory and monitor settings. If not, use the file
manager to browse to /mnt/cdrom/RedHat/RPMS and find the XF86Setup.xxx.rpm
and click on it. This will then install it). Another way is to use
Xconfigurator - similar instructions. If the monitor is an old one or a type
which is not on the 'automatically supported' list of hardware, you may have
to put in the horizontal and vertical refresh rates manually into the boxes
in XF86Setup. You can also set up the default screen resolution here and
check that it works before you commit yourself. If you find, however, that
you screw up the display, you can reboot the machine and type 'linux single'
at the Lilo prompt which will just take you to a very basic prompt level and
you can then run XF86Setup again from there. Hopefully this won't be
necessary....;O)
