You can also have optional encoder feedback in VDF and then cnc
control can handle AC motor spidle as it would be servo.
One taiwan machinetool manufacturer use 15hp AC spindle motor whit
Yaskawa varispeed G6 inverter and encoder/optional encoder card
and this machine have rigid tapping function whit this setup.
Personaly I have use 0,55kW 3 phase AC motor and mitsubishi A500
series inverter as milling machine axis motor.
