Stepper Info needed

Hello All,
I've been lurking here seen Digest #0. Like Mark Fraser I have many, many
projects stacked up in various stages of parts collection, research,
design,
planning, waiting for time, etc. etc. Most of my time away from my bill
paying job (Avionics Software) is consumed (the last 3 years) by building
my
dream shop (almost complete). The building is 40'x60', 2 story post and
beam with apartment in one end. When I say "I built it" I mean that I and
TLOML (without any outside help) designed it, drew the plans, cut the
trees,
cleared the site, dug the post holes and 2,000 ft of 3.5' trench, hauled in
all the materials, lifted the 8"x12"x20'
beams into place (19' up). poured the floor, drove every nail and screw,
did
all plumbing, electrical, radient heat, solid oak kit cabs, etc. etc. We
expect to move in and rent the main house before I retire (this year).

Someday I will build a special purpose CNC machine. What exactly it will
be
I don't know yet. Its purpose (and probably schedule) will be driven by a
product or service opportunity that will come along to provide the right
return on investment. I have collected: the functional portions of an EDM
machine, several resolvers, opto isolators, 48"x18" 400lb XY table with
drive motors (don't know what they are), various proximity sensors, power
supplies, etc., etc. Plus I have; 400 amp AC/DC MIG/stick (want TIG),
Oxy/Act, good drill press, bandsaw, plate shear, 30kw 3 Phase generator,
lots of Hyduralics, electronics parts and test equip., complete woodwooking
shop, etc.etc.

Now the Question. Yesterday I located a large cache of stepper motors. I
have not
seen them yet but am told they are of various makes, never used and about
2.5" x 2.5". Now I don't know anything about steppers and I suspect the
source doesn't either. What I would love to have is a table of every
stepper motor ever made that gives Mfg, model, oz/in, step/rev,
type(bipolar, etc), value to home CNC builders, price you would pay even if
you didn't need them right now, etc. I know its a tall order but why not
ask for the moon (wasn't Bill begging for us to ask our questions :-).
This situation will not allow me to inventory what is
there, go do the research then return to purchase. If I can determine that
most of them are of value to the likes of us I will buy the lot, pick the
best for my project shelf and sell the rest for a small markup (guy has to
grab a buck when he can). There will be a first pick at super discount to
the first person that provides my dream table.

Don't ask - I won't tell where - until I am done with the guy - then you
can
have him.
