thats pretty darn neat. after researching the dremmel tool, i opted for a
mini-router (trim router, laminate router... take you pick) the dremmel
(according to friends) has a plastic bearing that is only good for a short
while, if you want to keep replacing it, it's OK otherwise. the DeWalt
laminate router (again, take your pick on the name) has a quick release
base, 7/8 HP, and an astounding 30,000 rpm. i really like the pipe concept,
i may recycle that in my designs (mixed with t-slot stuff.... for
adjustability..etc...)

pardon the naivety, but what is the 'pipe dream'? I know what a pipe dream
is, but you speak of it like a specific machine...?

I have been talking to him via email and he has been very helpful. We had a
nice chat about his Pipe Dream setup. Looks good for cutting big stuff out.
I don't have room for something that big in my shop at this time but it
just begs for a big project. Maybe computer furniture
or patio furniture. Noooo stop thinking about this! Must finish PCB mill
first!!!!!! :-)

Mel,
I met John at a garage sale a few weeks back. I saw the PCBMill
and the prototype of the Pipe Dream. He had the machines outside on
the driveway. We cut keychain watch cases out of Plexi and we
milled some circuit boards. He makes all his parts by hand. Oh
Yea! I got to see the monkey organ that is made using the insides
of a harmonica. He also has a FAX machine that uses floppy drive
stepping motors. The machine along with a shortwave radio picks up
weather maps from around the world. He is extremly funny and so are
his friends that were hanging there. Now that was a great day!
