another controller program and my lost step problem went away. The
opto-isolation circuit with the Camtronic drivers worked flawlessly. My
conclusion is that something in the timing of EMC is causing problems.

Granted, this could easily be a problem involving all three parameters,
inverted steps/EMC/Camtronic drivers. It may not show up with other
drivers. It may show up with modified *.ini parameters in EMC. I solved
my immediate problem and went on to others, like getting a Z-axis
working. :-)
