I GOT A PROBLEM

on 1999-10-15 18:23:54 UTC
Hi,

Matt: There is something I left out ! I got a problem. I told a
few things about Varkon. This is something I can use, but there is
a lot of things I would like to have better.

I know I have asked these questions before, and Andrew came with a
lot of info about Rhino, - but as I am not a machinist, I have
little knowledge about how you would use it, what you would like to
have, and such.

I understand that Andrew is interested in 3D sculptures. As far as
I understand it, - he would extract a curve at some angle around
the shape, then rotate it and extract another curve. Others would
like to describe pockets, and remove this material. Then again,
someone would like to make a clock face with numbers. There is just
too many ways that people would use it for, and each would need
special special ways to work with it.

Is it possible for a number of you to write about the way you would
go by this ? ( In simple terms I and other could understand ?
( I don't even know what a rose machine looks like )

Some would turn parts, some with mill parts, some would cut steel
with a plasma, lasers, water. Some would use EDM, some would carve
wood. See my point ?

It could be very nice to collect short descriptions on how you use
it, and even if you more or less do the same things, you could
learn a few tricks of your fellow men. I would also like some
simple drawings, some printouts of tool paths, and simple parts.
The idea would not be to send this to me, but to send it to the
list, and try to make it into something that could be included in
the FAQ that Jon is working with. Also pictures of common
machines. I think it is pretty strange that the FAQ that I have
understood to be something that would sum up the things this group
wants, - to Jon alone. I think he has enough to do already. At the
beginning, it could be simple and you don't have to worry too much
of a presentable form. It can always be edited and made better as
time goes. We could start the subject line with the word FAQ:
subject category. This would make a skeleton on the topics covered.

What do you think ?

( This could form a basis for different setups. If someone would
like Varkon as the core, this would be perfect for it, as the
project & job setup could be tailored to the different needs and
machines, with local modules. It could even be tailored to
different setups of EMC)

What do you think ?
