Primarily because that is what I have. My software output is step and
direction. But on my EMCO Compact 5 PC lathe, I want try out servos, also on
my Sherline Mill. I will be using the same electronics for both of them, on
a selective basis. And if I am able to later CNC, my larger mill, and lathe,
they can be done as either stepper, or servos, depending on what I can
find/afford.
Probably better choices, but this is the way I am going to utilize what I
have available. Retirement and SS also enter the decisions I make, still
like to eat....grin
