Hi, folks - I don't have much time. ( Have to get the roof over my
storage/workshop )
From Paul Devey:
I am insane !!! I have trouble to just get food on my table ! But
somehow someone has to do something, and with God's help and some
happy grins on your faces, it might work.
I am going to try to push this forward, - the only thing I can
risk, is to make a complete fool of myself, and I have already done
that, so what more can I loose ?
There is a lot I have to check out, make contacts, and so on. Here
is a few thoughts about it:
- I have several research departments to contact.
- Several Universities to contact.
- I have some people in mind that could advice on the organization
of such an effort.
- Several people in industry for sponsorship
- A home for the project ( server space )
At the moment I am in contact with people from Varkon, and I have
contacted Fred and Will at NIST, and await any comments they will
have. Then I need to get in touch with the gCAD group.
Believe me - I am scared, but I will survive. I probably have to
lay aside every other project I am doing :(
Every one is a resource. All your comments, and so on on just how
YOU would like it - is help. But in order to do so, and not waste
any resources, - this has to be organized in a good manner. Else
it could end up in a lot of smoke dreams.
( shoot - I must be insane ) I have in fact been leading stuff
before, and I just don't like to do it, because I am aware of all
the problems involved. My problem is that I have already started to
roll the ball, and it is difficult to undo it.
But be aware of a few facts:
At the moment there is a lot of pieces that has to fall into place.
The concept needs to be evaluated, - maybe the idea is not good
enough. Maybe there is some fundamental parts missing.
( There is several other options and CAD libraries that is possible
to use )
And it will take time. At least in the beginning. But in my
experience, the ball could start rolling so fast, you lose control
over it. That is why this has to be well thought of, and started in
the correct manner.
I need some time to think, and will come back with any new info as
soon as I have some. Just now I will wait for some comments from
people I have contacted. The attempt MUST be done in a correct
manner, else it will just end up as a fruitless task.
Best wishes,
