The GotCha is that all the power supplies have a ground on the input cable
that is connected to the metal case and they are overated in amps output.

AND

the powersupplys output are also grounded to the PS case usually by one of
the circut board screws in the cheap ones and by a ground wire to the same
stud that the line power green wire is in the better built ones.

By cliping all the input ground wire except the PS closest to ground,
return, black wire that you use as ground and keeping all the cases from
touching maybe you could avoid letting the smoke out. Would be dangerous to
service or test also.

Please consider a nice linear power supply instead of a bunch of PC power
supplys.

The PC powersupply is cheaply built with cheap componets and is usually
ratings are kind of like the Sears etc aircompressors and vacum cleaner.
The single most likely failure in a PC is the power supply fan and second is
the whole PS.
