Slotting

Hello listies,

I have a fair idea but what exactly is a slotting head for? Is it just
like a shaper that'll cut a sharp corner instead of a monged round one? What
do the bits for these look like, are they like boring bars with corner
shaped cutting surfaces? Out of interest, how much are they in comparison to
a normal milling head as well?
