the FBI worm is code named "Magic Lantern"
Symantec and Network Associates (McAfee) have stated that they
would not detect the FBI worm if no one else tried to use the same
trick

the Badtrans worm is someone else using the same trick

rumor control sez that Badtrans is being used for identity theft
and has been timed to hit all the online XMass shoppers

or that some hacker is aiming to outfox the FBI

but then again this could all just be misinformation :-)
