Stepper driver??

A friend wants information on small 2-3 amp stepper driver, single channel,
with a step and direction capability built in, ie 555 circuit. Anyone have a
good suggestion of what would be a good one for him to acquire? I showed him
the Frog, and he choked.........grin.
