Hi Dave,
037 is .375" pitch, and a good size for the job. I have used this size
several times. Granger is a source of the belts and pulleys. Gates
makes belts, and you can also get belts/pulleys at Stock Drive Parts.
pulleys from 10 to over 60 teeth are available, depending on the
reduction you're looking for. Old copier stepper motors tend to be
small (60 oz/in?), so I'd go with a 3:1 reduction, if you can. Try it!
