Yes, the post processor can be tailored to cope
with the various practices used in applying CRC. Also
the contour facility allows you to specify an
Approach/Runoff move, this move can be used to apply
or cancel CRC before the tool actually starts the
Contour. Approach/Runoff moves may be Tangential, Parallel
or Normal to the direction of cut of the contour.

(Offset?) in Dolphin CAD/CAM

John,

Dolphin looks pretty straight forward. Obviously, the second screen
shot you provided would be my favored way of doing the job (provided
the CNC controller will support it).

I looked over the generated code and noticed some things that may not
work with all controllers. It appears the end mill goes to depth,
then compensates (G41) while at depth with a feed rate of F12. Some
controllers compensate at rapid rate which would not be a good
situation if the cutter is already into the part. Likewise, the G40
while the cutter is still at depth. In my shop I have 4 different
controls, all have their own strange habits when it comes to CRC, so
we make it a rule to always try to engage CRC with the cutter at Z.1
above the part.

Is there a way to "teach" Dolphin about the CRC quirks of different
controllers?

thanks,

Doug
