You may have a lot of unnecessary services running. Are you using this
machine as a mail server? If not, you don't need sendmail. There may
be a lot of other stuff running that is not necessary. It is useful to have

telnet and ftp to transfer files from cad/cam systems using Windows, but
otherwise most of the servers and daemons would not be needed on a
system used for running a CNC machine.

There are graphical system configuration tools that you can use to prevent
these services from starting.
