I've done a number of one-off PCBs for personal projects, and have
given up on trying to run with the big dawgs... I only do one sided
boards, and I put in lots of wire jumpers to get leads across each
other. Way easier, and unless you're in competition with Matsushita,
cost is non-issue.
Side benefit: Easy to put in high current "traces" without taking up
the whole board.
